Training, Education, and Certifications

The Northland offers outstanding opportunities for growth and profitability for a company seeking talent, productivity, and proficiency. Many of our companies have well-educated, highly productive employees working in a wide range of positions.
Job-specific training is available through eight local colleges, where the institutions tailor instruction around particular disciplines. These colleges are located throughout the Northland in Hibbing, Grand Rapids, Eveleth, Virginia, Duluth, International Falls, Cloquet, and Ely. In the heart of the Iron Range, the Iron Range Engineering model is a project-based learning program where students work closely with industry on design projects during their 3rd and 4th years.
Colleges offer diplomas, certificates, or associate's degrees. The eight colleges graduate more than 3,200 students each year.
Four universities are based in Duluth and Superior: the University of Minnesota Duluth, the College of St. Scholastica, Duluth Business University, and the University of Wisconsin Superior.
